PUCV Delegations join international activities in Italy and Bolivia

Martes 4 de noviembre de 2025

In the context of the Jubilee Year, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso actively participated in two international events that strengthened its commitment to the pastoral mission and the sense of the Universal Church: The Jubilee of the Educational World in Rome and a pastoral internship at the Universidad Católica Boliviana San Pablo, at the Santa Cruz, Bolivia campus.

Between October 27 and November 2, a delegation comprised by scholars Rodrigo Arriagada, Germán Ahumada and Felipe Muñoz, staff members Lorena Mansilla and María Alejandra Carvajal, together with the General Chaplain, José Pablo Valencia, participated of the Educational World Jubilee, celebrated in Rome.

This encounter included opportunities for reflection, dialogue and liturgical celebration, some of them presided by Pope Leo XIV, in the context of the Jubilee Year.

As part of the spiritual itinerary, PUCV representatives went on a journey to Assisi, the home of Saint Clare, Saint Rufinus, Saint Francis, and most recently, Saint Carlo Acutis, delving into the spirituality of service, fellowship and the simplicity of the Gospel.

Pastoral Internship at the Universidad Católica Boliviana

Simultaneously, a group of 30 students from different academic departments at the PUCV participated in a pastoral internship at the Universidad Católica Boliviana San Pablo, at the Santa Cruz, Bolivia campus from October 25th through November 1st.

The initiative, developed in coordination with the General Office of International Affairs, is part of the 2025 International Academic Study Tour and seeks to strengthen the integral training of students through academic, community and faith-based activities.

During the week, youth from the PUCV pastoral took part in presentations and dialogues regarding the Global Educational Pact, in addition to community service activities, which allowed them to get to know in detail the pastoral mission of the host university.

For Jazna Villarroel, Pastoral PUCV director, both experiences – the internship in Bolivia and the participation in the Hope Jubilee in Rome – reflect the spirit of a church on a mission, committed to community and fellowship.

“This opportunities reinforce the sense of the Universal Church, allowing members of our university community to live the experience of the Gospel in different social and ecclesial realities”, she added.
