Jueves 12 de marzo de 2026

A total of 77 scholars from the university participated during 2025 in different activities of the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID, for its name in spanish), carrying out roles linked to scientific evaluation, research and collaboration within the national system of science, technology, knowledge and innovation.

According to an institutional report based on historical participation records, 31 members are female and 46 are male academics, who are part of various sub-directorates and departments within the agency, contributing their expertise to project evaluation processes, the development of research initiatives, and the strengthening of the national scientific system.

The participation of the PUCV academic community is concentrated primarily in the Research Projects sub-directorate, with 50 professors serving as members of study groups and as directors. This is followed by Human Capital, with 30 members, and Applied Research, with 11. There are also contributions to Collaborative Research Centers and Networks, Strategy, and Knowledge, reflecting the presence of university specialists in diverse areas of the country's scientific activity.

In this regard, the Director of Research at the university, Mónica Cárdenas-Claros, pointed out that the participation of academics from the University in ANID represents a valuable recognition of their trajectory, experience and capabilities, since it demonstrates the trust placed in them to assume relevant functions within the national research system.

“Their presence not only highlights the quality of the scholars at the PUCV but also reflects the active contribution of the university to the scientific development of the country”, Cárdenas-Claros added.

Regarding the roles performed, the presence of 49 academics on committees, panels, and evaluation processes stands out—key functions for the awarding and monitoring of scientific funding instruments. In addition, there are 27 collaborating members, as well as principal investigators, co-investigators, and other roles associated with the agency's projects and programs.

The presence of the PUCV in these work involves scholars from different departments, where we can mention the School of Architecture and Design, the School of Biochemical Engineering, the Physics Institute, the School of Psychology and the School of Pedagogy, among others.

The report also shows the diversity in areas in which the university participates, which cover areas such as Engineering, Education, Social Sciences and Humanities, Astronomy, Physics, Geography and Earth Sciences, showing the transversal contribution of the PUCV to the scientific and technological development of our nation.
