The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso began to activate the use of Gemini, the artificial Intelligence tool embedded into the Google Workspace collaborative environment, an initiative that seeks to strengthen digital abilities of the university community and support academic and administrative work.
The implementation is framed within the technological modernization process fostered by the institution and complements the recent transition towards the use of Google Meet as an institutional platform for meeting and online activities.
To access, users only have to sign in with the PUCV Institutional Account to services such as Gmail, Google Docs or Good Meet, where Gemini functions will appear as automatically integrated, or go to gemini.google.com/app.
Gemini's main features include the automatic generation of summaries of meetings and sessions held via Meet, assistance in drafting and structuring documents, and support in organizing ideas and summarizing information. These capabilities will be directly integrated into everyday tools such as institutional email, documents, and other collaborative spaces in Google Workspace.
The activation of the service was coordinated by the Information and Communication services office (DSIC) as part of the Institutional strategy aimed towards consolidating a safer, more integrated and more efficient digital ecosystem.
To this respect, the PUCV Vicerector of Development, Jorge Mendoza, underscored that the incorporation of this technology represents an advance in the responsible adoption of tools based on artificial intelligence within the university. “With this initiative, the university continues moving forward in the responsible incorporation of AI-based technologies, strengthening productivity, collaboration and innovation in all areas of our university work”, he pointed out.
With this, the university seeks to facilitate the incorporation of artificial Intelligence tools in the everyday work dynamics, promoting responsible use that is aimed towards supporting academic and administrative activities.
In the coming days, usage guidelines and recommendations will be released so that the university community can make the most of these new features. The university aims to facilitate the integration of artificial intelligence tools into daily work processes, promoting responsible use focused on supporting academic and administrative activities.
