The Engineering Department of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (FIN-PUCV) is one of the most important Departments of Engineering in the V Region, standing out for its contribution to the advancement of Engineering through research and technological innovation, and for its contribution to regional and national development. Through the activity of its nine Schools of Engineering - Biochemistry, Civil, Construction, Electrical, Industrial, Computer, Mechanical, Chemical and Transport - the Department is projected towards both the cultivation of the Sciences of Engineering and the disciplinary training of professionals and graduates committed to the social, economic, scientific and technological development of the country.

For more than 80 years, FIN-PUCV has developed an intense research activity, with financing that includes funds from each Engineering School, competitions of internal projects of the University and national and foreign competitive funds.

FIN-PUCV seeks to further strengthen its research area, in order to strengthen and expand its links with the external environment through the development of high impact research and thus fulfill its task of contributing to the increase of knowledge and development of the country.
