Multiagent Systems

In recent decades, the availability of new technologies has allowed the development of increasingly intelligent systems with a high degree of integration to other systems and their environment, forming networks. On the other hand, the cost of the processors is decreasing, allowing the use of them in different devices and places, giving rise to new fields of application such as ambient Intelligence, pervasive computing and sensor networks (wired / wireless sensor networks); and with it, to new businesses. In short, systems become increasingly complex, either in terms of size or in the degree of interaction with the environment. All this requires new paradigms, techniques and methodologies to develop software that accompanies these systems.

In this context, the use of software agents and the development of their societies (multi-agent systems), is emerging as a solution alternative when developing distributed software systems, which require a high degree of autonomy and specific intelligence, at the same time being flexible enough to interact with other systems and adapt to new requirements.

Computational Intelligence and Optimization

It is dedicated to modeling optimization problems related to logistics issues, climate change, pattern recognition, traffic accident problems and automatic text classification.

Person - Computer Interaction

All phenomena related to human-computer interaction are studied. Understanding how software applications help people in meeting their specific objectives helps to develop better products at the service of the user.
